Section 3: General Information

A. Personal History

From a young age Caleb loved taking things apart and putting them back together again, he'd spend hours when he was old enough with his dad elbow deep in car engines soaking up the information his dad parted to him like a sponge.

By the time Caleb reached his teen years he could do a oil change on a car on his own, he knew how to drive a car (thanks to private property and his dad teaching him). He had pretty much learnt everything an engine and a car could do by the time he was 16, which meant he started getting bored.

He passed most of his exams with ease, the only one he really had trouble with was writing, he was more use to doing things, fixing things with his hands instead of spending hours writing.

After he left school he was given a part time job working for his dad, but the monotous of looking at the same problems in cars day in, day out made him not want to do it any more. He began to resent knowing everything he did about cars, there was nothing new left for him to learn and he was itching to learn something new.

Caleb discovered the Navy when he was on the last family vacation he'd ever take, they went down to stay at Portsmoth and he saw one of the boats docked there. Intrigue gripped him and he looked into it, it ignited that passion for doing something again and even better when he finally got to go to a recruitment centre he discovered he could take his skill from working with cars since a young child and enhance that.

He didn't miss a beat and dispite his mums protests (she was worried for her only son about being away from home so much) he joined up. The training was hard and he had several times doubts about what he was doing, but after the basic training and he started specializing his skills the passion he had from when he was young grew even more.

This was exactly where he wanted to be and what he wanted to do, except with one different detail, instead of working on the ships, like he'd seen on that last family vacation he ended up working mostly with submarines. Becoming a Submariner was not what he had expected, but that was even more of a challange for him, he had to use limited supplies, had to work in confined spaces, and when something didn't work it was down to him to sort it.

It was exactly what he had needed and wanted. Working with his hands, fixing something and having to think on his feet about what he was doing.

The downside to his job, was that he was away for months at a time and trying to maintain relationships was difficult. The last one they had gone their seperate ways amicably, they both wanted different things, but they stayed in touch and are still close friends to this day.

After a few years, whilst Caleb was on a months leave, he was offered a job that he had to sign discloure on before accepting. It was intitially weird, but after being told he had been approached for his work with the missile systems and using their targeting system to find someone in one of their dog fights they did. The missile systems weren't originaly designed for that, but Caleb had reworked it to do as his Captain wanted.

Signing on the dotted line, Caleb was always looking for that extra challange, that reason to push himself some more. He is probably the newest person at the SGC only having been there coming up to a year now. He is main role is mainly keeping the electrical side of things running, he works in a technician capacity as well as trying to make some of the more advanced weaponry more readily available for the rest of them, making it backwards compatitable.

Although he doesn't go offworld that much, he is combat trained (that is part of basic training for him from the start) and is able to work as an extra body on a team if needs be.

B. General Personality

i. Character Strengths: Good humour, logical thinking, patient, loyal, commited.

ii. Character Weaknesses: Stubborn (seriously he will spend hours getting one thing to work even after being told it would not work), is a little bit OCD likes things done in a certain way.

iii. Personal attitude and demeanour: Caleb has a good stress level, working underpressure on a submarine at times meant working to time limits. Although this has meant that he would sometimes take over things, which has not always made him friends. He can work efficently and to good time keeping. He has a good sense of humour which means he is always looking to make people smile.

C. Additional Information

Ancient gene: Yes, strong, not great at control but getting there.

RP Sample (in character):

Caleb couldn't remember the last time he had drank an ice cold beer, it definitly hadn't been any time in the last few months, so the drink was amazing. The bar he had ended up in with the lads from the ship (and it had to be called a bar being land side in the USA) was loud and filled with everyones laughter.

He couldn't remember the last time he had seen everyone as cheerful as they were right then, it was always hard work to be away from land and people for such a long time, sometimes. Not that he or anyone he knew would change it for the world. Being at sea was one of the most challanging and fun things he'd ever done and nothing was going to change it.

Sitting back in his chair, he tilted his head slightly as a load of cat calls and whilsting went off, a lot of men being cooped up for days on end, yeah there was going to be happy calls when women walked into the bar and he knew some of the young ones were probably more ineberiated then they should be.

Although he did have to appreciate the nice ladies who had entered and he could fel himself smile at one of them as he made eye contact. Yup very nice ladies indeed.

A pat on his shoulder and another bottle put down in front of him had him turning back around to face his friend and almost brother in arms sitting down next to him. "I don't think you could keep up with the young 'uns any more,"

Caleb just rolled his eyes, "More like they couldn't keep up with you, Mike," he said, tipping the fresh bottle towards Mike in thanks. Wondering just how many drinks his friend had, had to slip into his accent like that.

"And for your information I could keep up with them just fine," said Caleb, tossing the bottle top onto the table, "I just don't want to,"

"You are far too sober,"

"What?" Caleb asked, shocked.

"Nope 'tis settled, you need more drinks,"

Before Caleb could respond and even show that he hadn't even finished the fresh one that had just been brought his friend was up and ordering them some shots. Caleb was sure that by morning came around he was not going to have remembered much of what transpired.....
